The offseason is a very long season. When Fall Baseball ends…. And Major League Baseball ends….
What are we to do? My boy is not interested in playing basketball. Baseball is his passion.
We seem to be in cold and rainy weather season for an eternity. Daylight savings time ends. It gets dark early. Outside time is limited.
It’s FINALLY that time again to start gearing up for Spring baseball. Our little league practices have started, if the weather cooperates. The Major League players are FINALLY going to Spring Training in the warmer climates. We cannot wait to get everything going again…. Warm weather, sunshine, the crack of the bat, and being around some really great baseball friends. The excitement is building!
I have been a baseball fan my entire life and have been captivated by the game for as long as I can remember. I love the Atlanta Braves and have watched them play since I was a little girl. I used to watch games on TV, by myself as a little girl, from start to finish. Loved every minute.
Years later, I met a cute guy who loved baseball as much as I did. He had played his entire life. Our first date was to an Atlanta Braves baseball game. And yes, I asked him. He thought I was a keeper. I managed to score 9th row seats from a friend. Behind the Braves Dugout.
Fast Forward several years, marriage, and two kids later….
We now have a 14 year old daughter and a 10 year old son. Our daughter plays softball and is quite good. She’s got some power! She enjoys playing because she too, has been around the game for most of her life. She started playing only a couple of years ago but enjoys the social part also as most 14 year old girls do.
Our son is a baseball enthusiast. He loves to play, watch, and talk about baseball. He is about to start his 12th season of baseball this Spring Season. He has played since he was 5 years old. He finally made his select team at his park and is thrilled!
His Dad, my husband, is the coach and will coach again for his 12th season. He has done this since the beginning of our son’s baseball career. I will be Team Mom again, for my 12th season as well. Just like I have from the beginning.
We love what we do. We love helping, motivating, and lifting up our boys. We love meeting the parents and being a part of their families, at least for a little while. We love helping the boys work together, and accomplish something that they didn’t know they could do before. We encourage them to lift each other up and be a TEAM!
And we have had the best time as family watching our Atlanta Braves baseball and cheering them on. We enjoy our time at Turner Field as season ticket holders. Because of my love for the Braves and baseball, in 2014, I was invited to be on the Atlanta Braves Fan Advisory Board for the new ballpark, SunTrust Park, opening in 2017.
So, Baseball is something we do as a family, we enjoy it very much. It’s more than just baseball to us. It is time we get to spend together….
